He is an advocate for mainstreaming youth engagement across food systems processes, as well as digital agriculture. He finished BS Agriculture major in Agricultural Systems and is doing his MS in Development Management and Governance, both at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He serves as a Board Member to the professional organization for agriculturists in the Philippines – Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA), and also the science-policy think tank that hosts National Scientists and National Academicians in agriculture and related sciences – Coalition for Agriculture Modernization in the Philippines (CAMP).

As a youth advocate, Jim chairs the Youth Alliance for Zero Hunger, an international alliance of youth-in-ag organizations that engage with the UN Food Agencies in Rome. He also serves as a member of the Steering Committee of Young Professionals for Agricultural Development (YPARD), and is an outgoing Country Representative for the Philippines. At the science-policy intersection, Jim is one of the authors of the 16th High-Level Panel of Experts (HLPE) of the UN Committee on World Food Security (CFS) which is working on the youth report entitled “Promoting youth engagement and employment in agriculture and food systems”. As a digital advocate, Jim is the Director for Agritech at 8Layer Technologies Inc., an IT company in the Philippines that specializes in open-source software development, big data, cybersecurity, and satellite-internet solutions. He is also engaged in several enterprises, where he founded 360 PH Virtual Tours Philippines, sits as VP for Operations at Dream Agritech Consultancy Services, and Assistant Marketing Officer at GOEden PH which is an agri-inputs e-commerce platform.
